Are You Talking The Talk or Walking The Walk?

“There are two types of people: those that talk the talk and those that walk the walk. People who walk the walk sometimes talk the talk but most times they don’t talk at all, ’cause they walkin’. Now, people who talk the talk, when it comes time for them to walk the walk, you know what they do? They talk people like me into walkin’ for them. “

-Anthony Anderson as Key in the film Hustle & Flow (2005)

Take a good, hard look at your reflection in the mirror, and ask this question - am I talking the talk or walking the walk in every aspect of my life? If it's not, then maybe it's time for you to change.

I will continue to take my own advice and do the same, because I am in charge of myself and nobody can decide for me.

Kuih Bakar

2 minggu lepas, pwincess ada cuba resipi satu kuih tradisional ni, semata-mata nak perabihkan santan kotak yang expiry date nak dekat. mule-mule tu tak budget pun nak buat kuih bakar.... yang sebenar2nya, sepanjang hayat setakat ni, tak penah lagi laa simpan angan-angan nak buat kuih bakar ... tah cane tah aritu klik klik klik , tetibe directed ke resipi kuih bakar joayee ni ... dalam hati macam, bior betul aku nak buat kuih bakar??? haha. xpelah kadok ... asalkan santan kotak tak masuk bakul sampah udah ... so camni ler resultnye ~

tak sangka la pulak senang giler nak buatnya .... pasal masa kecik2 dulu, papa cakap kalau nak buat kuih ni kena bakar guna sabut kelapa la aper la ... like, remeh giler!!

resipi ni takde unsur-unsur remeh langsung pasal dia guna cara moden so, sapa-sapa yang teringin nak makan tapi tak jumpa orang yang jual sedap/saje-saje nak cuba try test resipi ni ... try la ye ...

Bahan-bahan ( 6 org )

  • 1 cup gula

  • 2 tbs butter
  • 3 biji telur
  • 1/2 tsp garam
  • colour hijau
  • bijan

Cara-cara

  1. campurkan semua bahan. blend sampai sebati.
  2. masukkan 2 tbs minyak dlm loyang .
  3. panaskan loyang dlm oven. bila minyak dah panas, masukkan mixture tadi kuih, taburkan bijan. bakar @180 sampai brown atau garing (pwincess bakar dalam 50-55 minit cenggitu)

Bukit Gambang Resort City (BGRC), Kuantan

How did you spend your weekend?

I spent mine at Bukit Gambang Resort City (BGRC), Kuantan :)

It was actually family day organized by Encik Mon's division, so I'm lucky enough to be invited. We were a bit of a haste since Encik Mon needed to drop by at his office before we head to Kuantan that we left our camera. urgh. Lucky now that we can google anything, so that's where I got all these pictures ;p

The check-in process at the resort was a breeze and I was delighted to find our studio suite clean and spacious (nothing fancy, though).

On day 2, Encik Mon played truant from his endless speeches and presentation sessions and we went to enjoy ourselves at the water theme park. boy, how much fun we had! I felt like a small kid back, since it was ages since the last time I soaked myself in the waters in a theme park. Both of us had free tickets so I didn't notice of the price of entrance, perhaps it was rm21.90? anyhow I remember it was cheaper than Sunway Lagoon.

Since it was Monday and not school holidays, there were so few people at the park. The park is cashless so you need to buy tokens (some sort like pre-paid) at the counter prior entrance and stuff like locker rentals, dining, fancy tubes, etc will be deducted from the pre-paid tokens. You can also top-up the tokens inside the park.

I was super excited to see this :

that is the penguin island. water splashes everywhere, oh how exhilarating!

but, it was for kids. oh damn. I even had thoughts like, if only I had kids at that time, then I can enjoy penguin island, on the pretext of accompanying them, haha! Just kidding.....;p

but, adults get to enjoy more exciting rides!

heads-on ride - terrifying? try it!

swimming pool

tram between the lodging and theme park - Rm1/person/way

It was queue free, that was what made our time there VERY enjoyable. seriously! Unlike Sunway Lagoon or Genting, you'll end up queuing all day even for a carousel or a ferris wheel ride ... he he hee..... but the rides in BGRC are not many as the two. takpelah, yang penting, best!

Why Men Don't Have A Clue and Women Always Need More Shoes...

Thought of writing a bit about these books. I got the chance to read these 2 books while I was in Bintulu last year ... well, what can I say ... I had a bit of high expectation when I grabbed these 2 mini books frm the shelves as they were written by the #1 best-selling authors.

Oh, how disappointed I was.

Each book is unmotivational at all, in fact, it never answered the question posed in the title itself. If you are having any relationship problems or need something to read on relationship improvement ... please don't read these books, unless you are searching for something humorous or just for your reading pleasure. Having said this, however, the writers did write something that Encik Mon sometimes say to me, for instance, he praises and fascinated by how I am able to multitask almost everything while he says most men can only do one thing at a time. I was like, uh come on....everyone does that, right??? And here what it says in the book:

"Women appear to be somehow genetically related to octopus. She can talk on the telephone, follow a new recipe and watch television at the same time. She can drive a car, put on make-up and listen to the radio while talking on a hands free telephone."

Octopus??!! Auwwwwww ~

Exchanging Birthday Gifts

Birthday just came early for me and encik mon this year!

..........and coincidentally we got each other a pair of shoes !

he bought me a pair of nike women air max + 2010 while i bought him a pair of timberland shoes.

my baby is such a beauty, ain't it?

and on top of that, i got 5 rm10 nike voucher to splurge, yeay!

since the shoes are meant for running and jumping, i thought i need to invest on a good sports bra as well, to get all the support. after all, i have that voucher to redeem. and so i went, window shopping.

my oh my. sports attire can really burn a hole in your pocket. like, really, really, REALLY burn. the sports bra that i had my eyes on, costs almost rm200, so ridiculously expensive for a small piece of clothing?!!

but, anyhow, i guess a little investment now goes a long way (hopefully!). that saying goes for both my air max + 2010 and the sports bra that i'm going to get my hands on soon!

Pulut Mangga / Mango and Sticky Rice

2 weeks ago pwincess saje-saje nak cobe resipi ni pasal rindu sama itu pulut mangga kat hatyai macam dalam post ni. kat mesia ni susah tul nak jumpe orang jual pulut mangga, so kalau tingin, kena la wat sendiri.

Pulut Mangga / Mango and Sticky Rice
(Taken from Pailin's Kitchen)

For the Sticky Rice:

1 cup long grain glutinous rice
  • wash and scrub until the water gets quite clear
  • soak in water for at least 4 hours or overnight
  • line steamer insert with cheesecloth
  • let steam on high (water moving vigorously) for 20-30mins
  • while steaming the rice, prepare the coconut syrup to pour onto the rice
*****
Coconut Syrup:

3/4 cup coconut milk

1/3 white sugar

1/2 tsp salt

  • combine all and cook on heat until all sugar has been dissolved
  • turn the heat off once it's dissolved
*****
  • transfer cooked rice onto bowl (not metal bowl otherwise it will absorb heat)
  • pour coconut syrup over it
  • stir the rice
  • make sure every grain gets coated, break up lumps if there are any
  • and when it's mixed, quickly cover the bowl with foil and let it rest for at least 30mins on something warm (i.e. back in the steamer/microwave) for the syrup to seep into the grains
*****
For the sauce:

3/4 cup coconut milk

1 tsp rice flour (campur dgn sikit air)

1/4 tsp salt

  • combine all and cook on heat and stir consistently
  • cook until boil
*****

Topping(optional) - toasted mung beans (kacang hijau)
*****
To assemble:
  • scoop the sticky rice onto plate
  • ladle a generous amount of coconut sauce over the sticky rice
  • add in ripe mango slices
  • sprinkle mung beans onto the coconut sauce and sticky rice
sedap sangat ..... ! rasa manis, masin, lemak, rangup semuanya ada ;p. masa pwincess buat tu, i doubled the recipe, boleh dapat dalam 6-7 servings.
