Brunei Sungkai 2017 : Pho Hoa Restaurant

Though it is already 9 Syawal, hope it's not too late to put in this entry on sungkai that we had at Pho Hoa Restaurant last Ramadhan. Actually we had just discovered this vietnamese cuisine restaurant. Before this, everytime we crave for pho noodle, we would head to Times Square, there's this stall in the food court that serves vietnamese food (pho noodle). To be honest, the noodle there is just so-so and the rest of the food are either finished already or they are not selling anymore. Based on our google search, that's the only place in Brunei that sells pho noodle ... so, not much choice for us, then.

This restaurant is located in Kg Kiulap and the Ramadhan buffet is $15.90 for adult and $9.90 for child. They change their menu daily which is kind of great, takde lah orang naik muak kan. We expected a full reataurant that night, but turned out to be just 2 groups were dining in including us.

From our observation, the menu spread is divided into 3 sections; the main course, vietnamese food and the dessert/beverage. The main course are steamed rice, fried noodle, soya sauce chicken, vietnamese grilled fish (but looked and tasted nothing different from the usual grilled fish), pakchoy mushroom, sambal squids, steamed prawns and pumpkin soup. The vietnamese spread consists of Beef/Chicken Pho, fresh and fried spring rolls while the dessert/beverage consists of salad, fruits and coffee/bandung.

I really love its Beef Pho that I only eat that, that night! It is free flow, but really, how many bowls can you gulp down after fasting the whole day ? The fresh and fried vietnamese spring rolls are also yummy, my kids ate those non stop, haha!! However, the main course was just so-so.


Would come again insya Allah for Beef Pho and spring rolls selagi kedai tidak ditutup hehe!

Brunei Sungkai 2017 : Kimchi Brunei - All You Can Eat Buffet

Nak dekat akhir Ramadhan barulah nak put write up on Brunei Sungkai ye ... hahaha ... takpa, better late than never!

 On the first day of Ramadhan this year which fall on Saturday, selepas berhempas pulas menyiapkan birthday bash for my boy at his kindy dan jugak siapkan order kuih, we decided to reward ourselves with iftar at somewhere nice ... somewhere we have not tried the food yet. Drum rolls ---- we decided to go to Kimchi Brunei Restaurant at Regent Square, Kiulap!

For starters, we were served yummy Korean side dishes such as Kimchi, fried anchovies, marinated bean sprouts and spinach. The rest of the 'all you can eat' menu must be ordered from their waiter'waitresses.

For the BBQ selection, we ordered everything from the menu - Lamb Bulgogi, Beef Bulgogi, Beef Teriyaki, Slice Beef Short Ribs, Chicken Teriyaki, Spicy Teriyaki and Sesame Ginger Chicken. They also have seafood assortment such as scallop, mussel, prawn and squid.  Luckily we ordered everything the first time because they all came in just 1 plate and quite a long time to reach our table. Dah tu nak tunggu daging masak pulak kan .... barbecue lah katakan ... memang mengajar kami erti SABAR. Mula-mula tu lagilah ... api grill tu waiter bukak yang paling slow .... tunggu punye tunggu ... dah kenapa daging ni taking a long time to cook ...sekali check ... padanlah ... mcm ni habis terawih pun tak habis-habis makan lagi.

Anyway, their Seafood pancake, gimbap and seaweed soup adalah tasty. For dessert antara menu yang dioffer ialah Pat BingSu, fruit platter dan Ice Cream. Of course we ordered all and they all come in single serving.

Their Ramadhan Sungkai comes at $28.90 per adult and $14.90 for children below 12 years old.

24 Ramadhan 1438 - Mee Rebus Bonda Chef Wan

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Pejam celik pejam celik dah 24 ramadhan...tak lama lagi ramadhan akan melambaikan tangan meninggalkan kita, sayu pulak rasanya. Semoga dipanjangkan umur, dapat lagi bertemu di tahun hadapan. Aminn.

Ini ramadhan pertama kami di rumah 'baru'...saja kami sekeluarga memanggilnya our new house kepada anak-anak kami, rumah sebelum ini ialah our old house. Baru lagi ke....hmm dah 5 bulan dah. Baru lagilah kan, belum setahun lagi hihi.

Awal ramadhan hari tu, menarik jugak komuniti malaysians di sini...mereka organised an online pasar ramadhan. It is an online food ordering/marketing from a few pre-agreed food sellers through whatsapp platform. The group admin will first consolidate among the sellers on the menu to be offered and then announce it to the main group members. They will open the order until a certain date and time to give room for the sellers to prepare the food, etc. The buyers will confirm their menu and quantity. On the delivery date, the sellers will then deliver all the customers' orders to a checkpoint and the customers will come to collect and make payment. Seronok dan convenient, kan! Tahun ni kami cuma menjejakkan kaki ke bazar ramadhan di area kami sekali je...lepas tu...taubat! Either masak sendiri or online param saja.

Ada antara rakan taulan kami yang sudah mula pulang ke kampung untuk berhari raya...tapi kami masih ligat lagi di dapur. Haaa...buktinya...inilah yang kami masak untuk iftar tadi....mee rebus cik ani, iaitu bonda chef wan. Pwincess rujuk dari blog madihaa.

Mee Rebus Cik Ani


BAHAN-BAHANNYA :-)
  • 1 kg mee kuning
  • 150 g taugeh, buang ekor
  • 2 keping tauhu, goreng terendam, hiris nipis
  • 2 biji cili hijau, hiris
  • 1 biji cili merah, hiris
  • 1 pokok daun sup, hiris
  • 1 pokok daun bawang, hiris
  • 4- 5 biji telur rebus, kupas dan belah 2
  • 6 biji limau kasturi, belah 2 (MaDiHaA guna limau nipis)
  • Bawang goreng secukupnya
  • Kuah mee rebus*
BAHAN KUAH MEE REBUS* :-)
  • 1/4 cawan minyak masak
  • 2 camca besar rempah kari daging
  • 2 1/2 camca besar tauco, tumbuk lumat
  • 500 g daging lembu (sedap yang ada lemak sikit)
  • 5 - 6 cawan air
  • 500 g keledek
  • 1 cm lengkuas, dititik
  • 1/3 cawan kacang tanah, goreng tanpa minyak dan kisar halus
  • 1 biji tomato, belah 4
  • 2 sudu besar udang kering*(Yatie tambah) (MaDiHaA tak guna)
  • 7 biji bawang merah kecil*
  • 3 ulas bawang putih*
  • 1 cm halia*(*tumbuk halus)
  • Garam dan gula secukup rasa

CARA MEMBUATNYA :-)

UNTUK KUAH MEE REBUS :-
  1. Daging dihiris nipis dan rebus hingga lembut (kalau guna daging batang pinang tak perlu rebus dulu).
  2. Keledek direbus hingga lembut dan kisar halus.
  3. Panaskan minyak, tumis bahan tumbuk halus hingga harum, tambah taucho dan rempah kari, kacau rata. Tambah sedikit air jika perlu.
  4. Masukkan daging (kalau daging rebus, masukkan sekali air rebusannya), air, keledek dan lengkuas. Masak perlahan selama 20 minit.
  5. Tambah kacang tanah kisar dan tomato, perasakan dengan garam dan gula.
  6. Masak hingga kuah pekat. (selalunya kuah mee rebus perlu manis sedikit).
PENYEDIAAN MEE REBUS :-

  1. Celur mee dan taugeh mengikut kuantiti yang diperlukan.
  2. Letak dalam bekas sesuai. Kacau kuah dan tuang atas mee.
  3. Letak telur rebus dan taburkan cili hijau/merah, tauhu, hirisan daun sup/daun bawang, bawang goreng dan diakhiri dengan perahan jus limau kasturi. Hidangkan segera....

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah 2017 Trip

Assalamualaikum!

Alahai....lama betul lah pwincess tak ber-blog ye....punyelah banyak cite...tapi tak sempat-sempat nak buat entry. Ni pun buat entry pasal mata tak dapat nak lelap memalam buta ni haih... apa-apa pun, pwincess cube blog latest trip kitaorang sementara tengah fresh ni lagi kan. Kesahnya...Encik Mon bawak kitaorang satu family sesaja cuti ke Sabah minggu lepas...kire  hadiah birthday pun ye jugak :)

21 April 2017 (Thursday)

We took an evening flight to KK from Miri Airport and arrived in KKIA 50 minutes later. We hired a Grab car and checked into Grand Borneo Hotel, that was the nearest hotel to the airport. Hotel was decent but there was no lift...so we had to haul our luggage up to level 3 (!).

22 April 2017 (Friday)

Checked out and waited for our car at the lobby...but our car was delayed. Pity the kids, they were asking for breakfast...luckily there was a restaurant in front of our hotel so we headed there. 2 bowls of soto, 1 plate of fried vermicelli with beef, 2 glasses of coffee and 1 glass of honey lemon cost about RM29...kinda pricey if you look at the portion and quality of food served...oh well. 

At last, we got our car. Sped off to the post office for an errand and after that to Imago Shopping Mall. Our holiday has begun....yeay!!


Asalnya nak beli hadiah birthday kat Imago ... sekali takde stok pula ... terpaksa pergi ke Suria Shopping Mall petang nanti. Habiskan round keliling Imago, sempatlah tick off dari checklist and then kitaorang terus ke Suria. Dapatlah akhirnya...hati sudah gumbira, kita pun check in lah hotel. This time around kitaorang stay di Celyn Hotel, pasal plan nye nak jalan kaki je around situ (pasar, makan seafood, etc). Hotel ni ada tangga sikit before dapat naik lif, so kalau ada luggage besar, nak kena take note. Bilik ok lah .... cuma aircond tu ada bau asap rokok sikit huhu. That night, we planned to have dinner di Nandos Oceanus Waterfront Mall tapi pasal kitaorang dapat parking cun, tak sampai hati nak drive pulak. Aper lagi ... grab car ler jawab nye! RM2.00 je .. best.

23 April 2017 (Saturday)

Pagi tu lepas breakfast, kitaorang round shopping brooch sikit dengan kedai RM2.50 pastu makan lokan dengan puding kelapa kat Jalan Sulaman macam biasa. Kali ni, gerai yang kitaorang biasa gi macam dah takde, so main terjah je lah mana2. Okaylah, even our boy pun suka makan.

Malam dinner kat tempat seafood berhampiran dengan landmark ikan todak ke apa tu.


Siput dalam cengkerang tu liat rupanya....beli lah try, seb baik dia potong kecik-kecik so boleh tolerate lagi keliatan dia. Latok beli sepiring je ... and tup-tup jadi kesukaan my boy. dia sorang je lah perabihkan.

Lepas breakfast, kitaorang terus ke Kundasang. Singgah dulu pasar filipina untuk beli mangga, boleh potong makan di hotel nanti.

Checked into Pines Resort. Ada breakfast and dinner so dah takyah susah2 cari tempat makan. The resort has prepared a set of food for each dayso we just come to dine at the dining hall. (reminds me of my asrama days).


Bilik kitaorang hujung ... tingkat satu. budak2 suka betul lepak kat anjung. Lepas dah freshen up, kitaorang gerak ke fish spa ... we thought it would be fun for the kids to play with fish ... 



Pwincess tetap penggeli ... lil pwincess pun ikut mama ... geli betul dengan ikan-ikan kat kaki. dalam banyak-banyak ikan kelah ... ada tersesat ikan keli ... besar weii .... takut jugak kalau kena sengat. Dah sudah tu, kitaorang gi ladang teh ... saja melawat kawasan ...ada pembaharuan laa dari segi tempat nak snap gambar ... 





Malam tu, terus dinner disediakan kat Pines Resort .... berselera pulak makan panas-panas pulak tu hujan malam tu ...

Good morning! Pagi tu breakfast kat Pines ... pilih nasi goreng kampung dan nasi lemak. not bad rasanya. Lepas tu terus ke Desa Cattle farm.

Best lah gi desa cattle farm kali ni, especially the feeding animals part. Yang tak bestnya, beratur nak beli susu desa panjang sangat-sangat. So we decided not to join the queue pasal tak silap, my friend ada sebut desa milk ada je jual kat kebanyakan supermarket in KK. Lepas exit from cattle farm, kitaorang saje drive sampai ke atas-atas sana tu ... tapi agak mandom dan tak nampak pun kinabalu peak. The kids pun dah tertido pun dalam kereta ... maybe because hujan jugak lah. Last-last kitaorang drive turun balik ke pekan kundasang, isi minyak kereta dan singgah makan lunch di Intan's restorant & cafe, dan beli buah-buahan potong untuk makan kat bilik. Later in the afternoon, we went out again cari kedai craft to buy some felt for some school project. Singgah Jakel beli kain perca and then went to 1Borneo mall .... balik ke hotel...rest....

26 April 2017 (Monday)

Get ready to return to KK ... bye bye kundasang, till we meet again next time ...

misi mencari susu desa di supermarket bermula ... singgah di Giant tak jumpa ... plan nak pegi ke survey, tup-tup nampak Desa Mart dari tepi jalan ... detour lah apa lagi ....

Next, terkocoh-kocoh nak singgah ke Pasar Dry Food pula, terasa nak beli rumpai laut kering and also avocado. Did I tell earlier, we just discovered about ikan bilis mata biru? All this while, tau ikan bilis kopek, tak kopek, besar, kecik, never heard of mata biru. But I heard so many good raves about these blue eyed gems of late, so we hauled 2 packs; satu saiz besar and satu kecik. They really have blue eyes, man!

So that's about our trip to KK ... happy happy ... dapat celebrate birthday kat sana, dapat birthday present lagi hehe ... doakan rezeki kami sekeluarga melimpah ruah ye...
